Cabinet Making

Cabinet making is the construction and installation of cabinets, carcasses, cupboards, wall units, shelving, drawers, furniture, vanity units, laundry units and bars. Cabinetmakers primarily work with wood however new technologies can see them working with metal, rock or vinyl as well.

Cabinetmakers perform the following tasks, among others:

  • building and repairing custom fixtures or furniture
  • prepare drawings from job specifications
  • making layouts and templates
  • operate woodworking equipment
  • cutting and assembling wood and wood substitute components
  • application of veneers, stains, paints, laminates or polish
  • fit hinges, locks, shelves, drawers and latches where appropriate
  • estimation of materials required and cost of project

Custom Designs will work with you to help design the right product for your home and families needs, whatever that product may be (a kitchen, bathroom, wardrobes etc). We will be able to design a product that will suit your budget. However, once we are in agreement, it is important that you stick with what you have decided as modifications to the original design can be very expensive.

Custom Designs is able to work on just the cabinet construction side, or can oversee the whole project organizing other professionals that may be involved in your job such as plasterers, tilers, plumbers, electricians and painters. This we find to be especially useful when working on a bathroom or kitchen project.
